Divorce sans juge depuis l’étranger
Dear Sir/Mme
I found your contact details on the internet as I am looking for information on how to obtain a divorce. I am currently married to a French citizen who resides in Aix-en Province. I am a citizen of Mauritius and we married in Reunion in 2002. I have spoken to legal advisers in Mauritius who have said that because the marriage was in a French territory, I need to speak to a French lawyer.
We have been living separately for 2 years and have a 14 year old daughter who lives with my wife in France. When we split up we agreed that my daughter would live with my wife in France and that she would provide all of the support for my daughter as I do no have the funds to be able to contribute.
I understand that the law and procedure on Divorce has changed since the 1st January requiring a letter to go to a notary first but I am unsure how to proceed.
Please excuse the English e-mail as my written French is not good, but I will understand if you reply in either English or French.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards
